Your data

How do we use your data? In short, the answer is that we don't. You don't need to log in to use the Northern Mutual site. All content is open and accessible so you're not actually giving us any information about yourself.

If you sign up to one of our campaign bulletins, if you complete our survey or if you make use of our tool to lobby MLAs, you must give your name and email address. This limited data is secure and will never be shared with a third party. At any time you can choose to unsubscribe from our mailing list. If you do, your personal data (name and email address) will be deleted immediately.

How we use analytics

We use analytics software on our site because we want to understand how it is being used. This helps us to better develop content and functionality for the users.

This software makes use of a very basic cookie that allows us to measure frequentation of the site. You, the user, always have control over the cookies you allow in the settings of your web browser. You can read, refuse or destroy them at any time.

In order to analyse site traffic, we use Matomo, free and open source software that is fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation enshrined in EU law. It is fully respectful of your privacy, and our use of this software (as opposed to the more intrusive and abusive Google Analytics used by most sites) means that we are not obliged to pester you with pop-up messages asking you to permit the use of cookies.
